What a first visit to a sauna event in Finland involves.
N.01
Löyly is the rush of steam and heat after water hits the stones. A savusauna is a chimneyless smoke sauna, heated for hours and aired before bathing. Saunoo means “bathes in a sauna”: in Finnish, sauna is something you do, not only a room you visit.
N.02
Bring a towel, water and shoes that are easy to slip on. Swimwear and mixed-bathing rules vary by venue, and multi-stop rallies may need a separate payment or booking at each sauna.
