World Sauna Day is a one-day open-sauna event: sauna owners and operators anywhere can register a sauna, from a home or apartment-building sauna to a commercial facility, and open it to visitors. The 2026 edition was on Saturday, April 25. It is organized by Saunat.fi and visitsauna.com, which first ran it in April 2024. Sauna from Finland, the industry association with 250+ member companies, is a partner and lists the day on its events calendar.
What happens on World Sauna Day
Participating saunas open their doors for the day. The organizers suggest special events such as guided löyly (steam) sessions, traditional and modern sauna rituals, and wellness workshops. Joining is free for sauna owners.
