The online retailer formerly known as Nordica Sauna opened its first walk-in store off I-85 near Greenville, with four outdoor and five indoor saunas to sit in, a heater wall, a sauna wood wall and trade pricing for builders.

SaunaKits.com, the online sauna retailer known until May as Nordica Sauna, has opened its first walk-in showroom. It sits at 107 Hurricane Creek Rd in Piedmont, South Carolina, just off I-85 at Exit 35, south of Greenville. Nine saunas are set up on the floor, and shoppers can sit in any of them before they buy.

The store held its grand opening on September 26 and announced it on October 11. Co-founder Christian Sawyer says shoppers have already driven in from Asheville and Hilton Head.

The outdoor side has three SaunaLife models (the CL4G from the Cube Series, the EE6G Ergo Elegance barrel and the G2 from the Garden Series) plus Auroom’s Mira S. Auroom builds its saunas in Estonia.

Indoors, the lineup leans infrared: Golden Designs’ Dynamic Gracia Elite and Barcelona Elite, the FINSAUNA Radia IR 300C and the Thermi Core. The Finnmark FD-4 Trinity Infra-Steam is the hybrid of the group. It pairs infrared panels with a small Harvia stone heater, so bathers can still throw water for steam.

“A sauna is a large investment, and nothing replaces sitting inside and seeing the craftsmanship of these saunas up close and in person,” Sawyer said in the company’s announcement. “We’re proud to call the Upstate home and can’t wait to help more families here in Greenville bring wellness into their own backyards.”

Heaters hang on a slatted wood display panel, so shoppers can compare sizes and see how each one looks on a wall. Harvia and HUUM, the two heater brands the SaunaKits.com site flags as best sellers, both have models there, with controls mounted beside them.

Across the room, a “Sauna Woods” wall shows six paneling options side by side: thermo aspen, a brushed black “midnight” aspen, spruce, thermo spruce, alder and cedar. The company says these woods aren’t stocked by other lumber suppliers in the area.

Builders get trade pricing and cut-to-order kits

The showroom also serves builders, contractors and designers. SaunaKits.com offers them trade pricing, plus pre-cut sauna room kits and custom-cut materials sized to a specific project. Its trade program covers heaters, controls, benches and doors as well as wood, and trade visits can be booked through the same form.

The company frames the location as within reach of two big metros. Charlotte and Atlanta are each less than two hours away by its count.

The showroom was promised with the rebrand

Co-founders Chris Tester and Christian Sawyer renamed Nordica Sauna as SaunaKits.com on May 4, and announced the South Carolina showroom the same day. The business, the team, the phone numbers and the warranties stayed the same, the company said.

“The Nordica Sauna name helped us build a strong foundation, but SaunaKits.com better reflects where we’re headed,” Tester said at the time.

The catalog runs past 2,000 products, by the company’s count. Alongside saunas and heaters it sells cold plunges, steam, outdoor showers and build materials, from brands including HUUM, Harvia, SaunaLife, Auroom, Finnmark Designs and Golden Designs.

From the grand opening to Fit Fest

A week after the grand opening, SaunaKits.com sponsored GVL Fit Fest, a one-day fitness and recovery event at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville on October 3. The company posted a short video from opening day:

The showroom is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. For a Monday or Saturday visit, or to bring a client, book ahead through the SaunaKits.com showroom page or at (864) 528-8989.
