The Finnish soapstone maker’s Kaarna, Pyry and Usva heaters now meet US ETL requirements, in four outputs from 4.5 to 10.2 kW on 240-volt single-phase or 208-volt three-phase power. US prices, dealers and delivery dates aren’t out yet.

Tulikivi’s electric sauna heaters are cleared for sale in the US. The Finnish soapstone company said on October 20 that its Kaarna, Pyry and Usva heaters and their WiFi control system meet US ETL requirements, tested to UL 60335-2-53:2025, the sauna heater safety standard published in summer 2025. Tulikivi says it has begun marketing and distributing the heaters in the US “in cooperation with local dealers and partners.”

The US versions are wired for American service. Tulikivi’s US product pages list every model for 240-volt single-phase or 208-volt three-phase power, in four outputs from 4.5 to 10.2 kW. The same heaters in Europe run on 400-volt three-phase, which most US homes don’t have.

  • Outputs 4.5 kW for rooms of 106 to 212 cubic feet, 6.8 kW for 177 to 318, 8.5 kW for 247 to 459, and 10.2 kW for 318 to 530
  • Power 240 V single-phase or 208 V three-phase
  • Breaker on 240 V 20 A for the 4.5 kW up to 45 A for the 10.2 kW

  • Side-wall clearance 4 inches for the Kaarna, 2 inches for the Pyry and Usva
  • Control Tulikivi Sauna Control Panel, with WiFi
  • Not announced US prices, US dealers and delivery dates

Only the M size is listed for the US

Each heater comes in two sizes in Europe. The larger L models, at 12.8 and 15.3 kW for rooms of up to about 850 cubic feet, are listed on Tulikivi’s European site with a CE mark and don’t appear on its US site. For now the US range stops at the 10.2 kW M and 530 cubic feet.

Haljas already builds a sauna around the Pyry

Haljas Houses, the Estonian glass-sauna maker with three Red Dot awards, builds the Lens interior of its Hele Single and Hele Double around the Pyry. Its installation manuals for both models list the heater as a “Tulikivi PYRY 10.2kW,” and the Hele Single page lists the Lens for seven people on 400-volt three-phase power. The US Pyry M 102 has the same 10.2 kW output, listed for 240-volt single-phase.

Size the circuit from the manual, not the web page

On 240 volts, Tulikivi’s pages list a 20 A breaker for the 4.5 kW model, 40 A for the 8.5 kW and 45 A for the 10.2 kW. The 6.8 kW is listed at 30 A on the Kaarna and Usva pages and at 40 A on the Pyry page. On 208-volt three-phase, the listed breakers run from 15 to 30 A. Electricians should take the figure from the installation manual that ships with the heater.

An ETL listing does the same job as a UL listing

ETL is Intertek’s listing mark. Intertek, like UL, is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, and a listing from one of those labs is what US electrical inspectors check for on a sauna heater. Tulikivi tested to UL 60335-2-53, the standard UL published in 2025 to follow the international IEC 60335-2-53 that European heaters are already built to.

In May, Tulikivi said it was running the UL tests for a North American launch in 2026. Its half-year report on August 14 said “Sales in North America will commence in the third quarter of 2026.” The ETL announcement came three weeks after that quarter ended.

Prices, dealers and dates are still open

SaunaNews has asked Tulikivi when US customers can order and when heaters will be in stock in the US, which dealers and partners will sell them, whether it will publish US prices, and whether Canada is on the same timeline. This story will be updated when the company answers.

Tulikivi’s Canadian site lists the same three heaters with an ETL certificate, but the October 20 announcement covers only the US. Tulikivi publishes its January to September interim report on November 6.
