Two established Finnish heater manufacturers, Mondex and Narvi, are rolling out product updates for 2026. They market themselves very differently. Their catalogs have more in common than the marketing suggests.

Mondex: faster heating, better efficiency

Mondex, a Sauna from Finland member company known for its design-forward heaters, is launching updated versions of its popular Teno and Kalla models this spring. The updates focus on the internals: new technical solutions that heat the stones faster, use less energy, and give the bather more time to actually enjoy the session rather than waiting for the room to come up to temperature.

Mondex has been pushing the design envelope in recent years. Their Rakka heater, which wraps natural stones around the exterior of the heating body, is one of the most visually striking heaters on the market. The company also launched WiFi-controlled heaters in 2022, making it one of the earlier Finnish manufacturers to embrace smart connectivity.

Narvi: traditional pitch, broader catalog

Narvi leads with the basics: a well-ventilated wood room, heat from stones, and loyly (the steam created when water hits hot rocks) that lets you control both temperature and humidity. Stone mass and airflow are the pitch.

The catalog is wider than the pitch. Narvi sells the Narvi Flow Wifi controller, which the company says lets you “control the heater remotely using the free Narvi Flow app,” available in the App Store and Google Play, in packages for heaters under 11.0 kW and for 11.0 to 18.0 kW. It also sells a line of full-spectrum infrared radiators built on Schott glass and Fischer lamps, made in Finland, with their own smart controllers. Stone mass and phone control are not an either/or at Narvi.

Finnish Heater Brands to Watch: Mondex (design-forward, WiFi-enabled, updated Teno and Kalla models for 2026). Narvi (loyly quality and stone mass in the marketing; Wi-Fi app control and a full-spectrum infrared line in the catalog). Veto (another Finnish maker worth tracking, part of the Sauna from Finland network). All three are members of Sauna from Finland.

The tidy version of this story is a modernist and a traditionalist splitting the Finnish heater market between them. The catalogs do not support it. Both companies sell app-controlled heaters, both sell heaters that get judged on stone mass and loyly, and Narvi sells infrared on top of that. The difference is which half each one puts on the front page. Buyers who shop the positioning instead of the spec sheet will misread both.
