Atera Bathhouse & Spa opened October 22 beneath Glasgow’s Radisson Blu hotel, according to the company’s opening announcement. The roughly 26,000-square-foot conversion combines a bathhouse, seven treatment rooms and fitness studios. Hotel property owner Pandox puts the investment at about £6 million, or approximately $8 million at October 16 exchange rates.
The project combines two sauna formats with warm-water bathing, cold immersion, treatments and a café. Day visitors can book bathing sessions and treatments; fitness access is reserved for members and hotel guests, according to Atera’s guest information.
A 20-person ceremonial sauna and a quieter Finnish room
Atera’s facilities guide lists a ceremonial sauna for up to 20 guests at 176–203°F. Its programming uses soundscapes, aromatherapy and guided rituals. A separate, smaller Finnish sauna is listed at 158–176°F.
The opening release puts the hydrotherapy pool at about 39 by 23 feet, with water listed at approximately 99°F. Cold plunge pools are listed at 46–50°F. The lineup also includes a steam room, hammam, Rhassoul room and hot and cold experience showers. Hammam and Rhassoul sessions require separate bookings unless included in a package.

The operator describes two Aufguss ceremonies: The Discovery, an introduction to guided sauna bathing, and The Meditative, aimed at more experienced bathers. In the latter, a sauna master circulates heat with towel movements after aromatic ice melts on the stones.

Pandox puts hotel space to a new use
Pandox describes the project as an investment in underused space within its existing hotel portfolio. Atera’s memberships and day visits extend the audience beyond overnight hotel guests. bbspa Group, which led concept development and pre-opening operations, will manage the venue, according to the opening announcement.
In a public project update, bbspa_Group’s Kirsty MacCormick identified Atera as the group’s first UK project and described leading its operational development. The credited design team includes ADP Architecture and bbspa_Group; the delivery team includes akp Scotland, BPS Group, Barr + Wray and BGL Contracts.
Atera’s fitness facilities cover three zones: a gym with Technogym Artis equipment, a functional training space, and a reformer Pilates and movement studio. Technogym Checkup assessments inform individual training programs. The opening release also lists PNOĒ metabolic testing and VALD strength and movement assessments. The treatment menu lists Elemis and Comfort Zone facials, massages and body treatments.

Bathhouse passes start at £75
Atera’s booking site lists a Bathhouse Pass from £75 (about $100) for up to two hours, describing access to the hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room. An Aufguss package starts at £135 (about $180), including up to two hours of pool access.
The booking platform lists three membership tiers: Element at £140 a month (about $187), Celeste at £240 a month (about $320), and Founders Circle at £3,600 a year (about $4,800). All are listed without a joining fee.
Element includes the gym, hydropool, sauna and steam room. Celeste adds contrast therapy and six Hammam or Sauna & Plunge experiences a month. Founders Circle adds a monthly 50-minute treatment and early access to events. All three list 20% off spa treatments and 50% off fitness classes. Membership numbers are capped.
Atera lists its entrance at 89 Oswald Street, near Glasgow Central station. Its website gives hours of 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.–8 p.m. on weekends, with the café open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Package details and booking options are on Atera’s website.
