Travis Talmadge’s World Masters appearance puts a spotlight on Bathhouse’s seven daily sauna ceremonies, included with each visit.

Bathhouse cofounder Travis Talmadge’s appearance at September’s Aufguss World Masters has brought the company’s daily sauna programming into a new GQ feature. The New York operator currently lists seven guided ceremonies a day, included without an additional charge.
Liz Plosser’s October 1 report places Talmadge 29th among 40 solo competitors at Satama in Germany.
The connection between competition and regular programming follows this year’s U.S. nationals in Brooklyn. Bathhouse’s official program scheduled Show Aufguss on May 19–20 and Modern Classic on May 21, with Talmadge participating in both formats.
Seven daily sessions, included with the visit
Bathhouse’s current ceremony page lists sessions at noon, 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 9 p.m. It says ceremonies run daily at all locations. Guests join after a sauna master announces the next session; no separate reservation is required.
The operator describes a roughly 15-minute ceremony combining heat, essential oils, and music. Sauna masters use snowballs to produce steam and towels to circulate heat through the room.
GQ describes the programming as a way to encourage return visits. Bathhouse’s public schedule establishes the frequency and booking model; it does not disclose ceremony attendance or a measured effect on retention.
World competition adds theater and technical judging
The competition organizer confirms that the 2026 World Masters took place September 13–20 at Satama Sauna Resort & Spa. Show Aufguss brings storytelling, choreography, music, and lighting into the sauna.
Judges assess both the ceremony’s technical execution and its performance. Criteria include towel technique, heat distribution, safety, professionalism, musical choices, storytelling, and audience connection. The score therefore covers more than whether a towel trick lands.
Talmadge also won the U.S. Modern Classic title
The organizer’s 2026 national results list Talmadge as the U.S. Modern Classic winner. That is a separate competition from Show Aufguss.
Bathhouse describes Modern Classic as heat, oils, music, and functional and expressive towel waving. Its theatrical format adds costumes, props, lighting, and acting. Those distinctions matter for operators considering the staffing and economics of guided sauna sessions: a daily ceremony and a competition production involve different programming choices.
