Commercial electric workhorse for hotels, gyms, and spa operators
Dual-group elements, 200 lbs of stones, stainless construction, 10.5-22 kW. The heater specified when a commercial sauna has to run 10 hours a day for ten years.
The Virta Pro is Harvia's commercial electric standard. Its defining spec is the dual-group element design: heating elements are split into two independent circuits so a single failure never takes the sauna fully offline. It's the heater commercial dealers reach for at 16 to 22 kW for hotel spas, apartment amenities, and gym saunas between 400 and 1,400 cubic feet. Not sold as a residential unit, though residential buyers sometimes specify it for oversized rooms. Needs an external control unit: Xenio CX45 for the HL110-HL160, CX170 or Fenix FX170 for HL200 and HL220.

From earnings calls, investor presentations, annual reports, and the Harvia product catalog.
“Quarter four 2025 was the strongest sales quarter really in the history of the company.”
“Heating equipment was the primary growth driver, growing by 13% and adding EUR 3.4 million to the top line.”
“We make clearly more than 200,000 heaters per year and give and take maybe 20,000 sauna cabins.”

Commercial specifiers sometimes default to the highest kW Virta Pro option. HL160 at 16 kW is typically more than enough for hotel rooms under 900 cubic feet. Stepping up to HL200 or HL220 adds meaningful operating cost without proportional performance gain in rooms that size. Measure the actual room and match the heater accordingly.
Virta Pro needs an external control unit. Xenio CX45 is rated up to 17 kW — appropriate for HL110 through HL160. Larger HL200 and HL220 units need CX170 or Fenix FX170. Undersizing the controller relative to the heater nameplate is a common commercial install error; confirm amperage ratings on both the heater and the controller before ordering.
Virta Pro's elements are split into two independent circuits. If one group fails, the heater continues operating on the remaining group rather than going fully offline. For commercial operators running daily amenity saunas, this reduces the operational impact of a mid-service element failure.
Hotel spas, fitness center saunas, apartment amenity rooms, multi-unit condos, and very large residential builds over 900 cu ft. Operations running 8+ hours a day where element redundancy matters. Anyone with 208V three-phase service on the electrical panel.
