The Virta Pro is Harvia's heavy-duty electric heater for commercial saunas. Harvia divides its heating elements into two groups and lists it for professional users in spas, hotels and apartment buildings. In the US, Harvia's Virta Pro manual covers two models: the 16 kW HL16U1 on 240V single-phase, rated for 354 to 918 cubic feet, and the 20 kW HL20U3 on 208V three-phase, rated for 354 to 1,130 cubic feet, both with an 82.7-inch minimum room height. The 400V international range runs from the 13.2 kW HL135 to the 22 kW HL220. Every Virta Pro needs an external control unit: the US manual lists Xenio CX30 or CX45 units, with an LTY45 power extension unit on most wiring layouts.

Harvia rates the US 16 kW HL16U1 for 354 to 918 cubic feet and the 20 kW HL20U3 for 354 to 1,130. Those ranges assume a well-insulated room; glass and uninsulated masonry add to the heat load. Measure the actual room and match the heater to Harvia's range rather than defaulting to the biggest model.

Virta Pro needs an external control unit. Harvia's US manual lists a Xenio CX45, with or without the LTY45 power extension unit, for the 240V HL16U1 on two circuits; a CX30 or CX45 plus the LTY45 for the HL16U1 on four circuits; and a CX30 or CX45 plus the LTY45 for the 208V HL20U3. On the 400V international side, the Xenio CX170 and Fenix FX170 handle 17 kW on their own and can be extended to 34 kW with Harvia's LTY17 power unit, so the 22 kW HL220 needs the extension. Confirm amperage ratings on both the heater and the controller before ordering.
