Overview
A tall column of stones inside a stainless steel lattice. The largest standard model holds about 265 lbs of stones, and the pillar can be recessed into the benches or set in front of a glass wall.
The electric Cilindro is Harvia's pillar-format electric heater. The cylindrical tower holds 200 to 265 pounds of stones in an open stainless lattice, which Harvia says gives soft yet strong steam, and Harvia calls the Cilindro its top-selling heater model. Harvia's US Cilindro E manual lists five outputs from 6 to 10.5 kW on 240V single-phase service, with the 8 and 10.5 kW models also built for 208V three-phase. Every model is rated from 141 cubic feet; the 10.5 kW unit has the larger body and needs a 78-inch minimum room height, against 75 inches for the rest.

Where it fits
Rooms 141-636 cu ft, depending on the model, glass-front builds where the stone column is part of the design, and sites with 208V three-phase service (8 and 10.5 kW models). Every Cilindro E is rated from 141 cu ft, so it is not a heater for anything smaller.

N.01
Pile a dense outer layer and keep the middle loose
Harvia's US manual says to pile a dense layer of stones against the steel grid, which keeps direct heat radiation off nearby materials, and to pile the rest loosely so air can flow through the middle of the heater. Do not drop stones in, wedge them between the heating elements, or build a high pile on top.
N.02
208V vs 240V service on the 8 and 10.5 kW models
The 8 and 10.5 kW Cilindro E models come in separate 240V single-phase (HPCS8U1H, HPCS11U1H) and 208V three-phase (HPCS8U3H, HPCS11U3H) versions. A 240V heater wired into a 208V panel runs below its rated output. Confirm whether your installation is 240V single-phase or 208V three-phase before ordering.
N.03
Use split-face sauna stones in the specified size range
Harvia's US manual calls for angular split-face sauna stones 2 to 4 inches across, in peridotite, olivine-dolerite or olivine, washed before they go into the heater. It rules out light, porous ceramic stones and soft soapstone, which do not absorb enough heat and can damage the heating elements.
