BWB reports a new construction milestone at Trafford City. Therme still lists late 2028 for completion.

A crane is now on site at Therme Manchester, according to an October 12 update from BWB Consulting. The engineering consultancy reported the milestone as construction continues at the 28-acre wellbeing resort in Trafford City.
BWB is working alongside Therme Group, developer Peel Waters and contractor Sir Robert McAlpine. Its update gives the project a visible construction milestone, but doesn’t announce a revised opening date or the completion of a particular building phase.
Saunas within a much larger resort
Therme’s Manchester project site describes a resort combining thermal pools, saunas, steam rooms, botanical gardens, water slides, a wave pool and spa treatments. Plans include family areas and an adults-only zone with extended sauna experiences.
The operator forecasts 1.7 million visitors in its first year and currently says construction is scheduled for completion in late 2028. Both figures are project forecasts. The crane announcement doesn’t change them.
BWB says the development is expected to create 2,500 construction jobs and 650 permanent roles. Those are projected jobs across the development, rather than a count of people currently working on site.
Construction follows enabling works
Earlier planning and site-work updates described utilities work, site offices and the removal of existing concrete slabs for reuse. The crane arrives after that preparatory work; it isn’t the project’s first activity on the ground.
SaunaNews has also covered sauna programming at Therme Bucharest and Therme’s collaboration with Marriott. Manchester adds a UK construction project to that wider thermal-bathing business.
