Germany’s champion and two North Americans are on the bill
Therme Euskirchen describes the field as national champions, international competitors, World Championship entrants and world champions. Its lineup page doesn’t say who holds a world title.
Lennart Kloß, 21, won the German singles championship this summer and finished 17th at the World Championship in September, the best German. According to a July 13 press release from Thermen & Badewelt Sinsheim, he works in guest services there and started a pool-operations apprenticeship at the spa at 16.
The spa lists Jacqueline Mason as Canada’s 2026 aufguss champion and runner-up in the duo category in 2025. Christopher Shenkle, an American actor who became a sauna master in Oslo, appears under Norway. He won Norway’s show aufguss and Modern Classic titles in 2025 and reached this year’s World Championship final, as we reported from the Oslo sauna congress.
Julie Picca and Lucas Bodin, a duo from Luxembourg and France, had a wildcard into the 2026 World Championship. Angela Fischer finished second in the Sauna Aufguss Experts Challenge. Daniel Egri brings a four-person Hungarian team, and Duygun Öğretmen has been a Turkish aufguss master for eight years, the spa says.
Two guest teams come from sister spas
Therme Euskirchen, Sinsheim, Therme Erding and Therme București are all run by Therme Horizon, a joint venture of Therme Group and CVC Capital Partners, according to the Sinsheim release. Therme Erding sends Marty Dittmer, Theresa Pfahler and Antonia Steiger, whose backgrounds include freestyle aufguss, show dance, cheerleading and gymnastics. Alexandru Hogea, Gabriel Acrivopol and Matei Rares are aufguss masters at Therme București, which closed its own three-week Sauna Fest on Oct. 25. Both festivals use the same name, and both include every show in admission.
Comedy, a silent disco and a sauna rave fill out the week
A silent disco runs at 6:45 p.m. daily in the Mental Dome. Stand-up comedy comes to the Beach Sauna at 1:45 p.m. and the Koi Sauna at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. A sauna rave takes over the Beach Sauna from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday to Sunday. The Mental Dome and Beach Sauna are in the Palmenparadies, the spa’s tropical pool hall.
The festival page doesn’t post which master performs when, and the spa says the program may change.
Before you go: no swimwear, no phones
A dated Vitaltherme & Sauna ticket from the spa’s online shop is all a visitor needs, the festival page says. The sauna area is for guests 16 and over and is textile-free, with no swimwear in the saunas or pools. A sauna kilt or a towel wrapped around the body is fine in the saunas. Outside them, guests wear a robe or towel, and a towel goes under the whole body on the benches. Robes rent for €8, and kilts and sauna towels for €5, plus a refundable deposit.
Phones and cameras are banned throughout the sauna area except in the Amber Orchid restaurant and marked zones. Saunas close shortly before each aufguss to prepare the room, and arriving early doesn’t guarantee a seat. The ten themed saunas run from about 140°F to 194°F, according to the spa’s FAQ page.
