Myyttinen Saunaviikko at Saunamaa, Juuka
Nine consecutive themed sauna evenings at €49 a head in Juuka, the North Karelian town that is also Tulikivi’s home and Europe’s most important soapstone deposit. A pricing experiment worth reading.

Myyttinen Saunaviikko, the mythic sauna week, runs 25 July to 2 August 2026 at SAUNAMAA, Kotakyläntie 197 in Juuka, North Karelia, daily from 15:00 to 20:00. Every evening has a different theme and costs €49 per person, and every one ends with a shared sauna and light salty refreshments. Accommodation is available on site.
The two dates falling in August are 1 August (qigong breathing, led by Seppo Laaksonen) and 2 August (men’s evening). Earlier evenings covered mysticism, breathing and listening to nature, relationships, a women’s pampering evening, a purification ritual, and asahi with Tuija Gröhn. Why an Operator Should Care
Forty-nine euros for an evening is roughly ten times what the Finnish festival calendar charges for a day wristband, and it is being asked in a municipality of a few thousand people. What is being sold is not sauna access. It is a guided session with a named practitioner, a theme, food, and a fixed cohort, and the sauna is the room it happens in.
That is the same structure as the ritual pricing at Ärni in southern Estonia, arrived at independently, and it is the model most likely to transfer to a US operator who cannot win on throughput. If your room seats twelve and you cannot fill four turns a day, the answer is not a cheaper wristband.
The Town Is a Sauna-Industry Town
Juuka is not an incidental location. Tulikivi Oyj is headquartered at Kuhnustantie 10 in Juuka, and the Nunnanlahti deposit inside the same municipality is the company’s most important source of soapstone. Finland holds up to 70 percent of Europe’s soapstone, and this is where the best of it is. Tulikivi makes soapstone fireplaces and a range of sauna heaters, and we have reported on its Kevo heater push into the US and the UL testing behind it.
So a sauna week in Juuka is being held in the town that supplies the stone. That is not a coincidence anyone is marketing, and it is exactly the kind of thing a map pin will never tell you.
