Farris Bad wins the regional hotel-spa category; London’s Banya No.1 Hoxton takes Independent Spa Business of the Year.

Farris Bad in Norway and Banya No.1 Hoxton in London won at the 2026 World Spa & Wellness Awards, with Hoar Cross Hall receiving a highly commended distinction in the hotel-spa category.
The organizer’s winners announcement says the ceremony took place at The Brewery in London on Sunday, October 4. The results article was published October 5 and updated October 7.
Three names from the thermal-bathing business
- Farris Bad: Hotel Spa of the Year, Western Europe & Scandinavia.
- Hoar Cross Hall: Highly Commended in the same hotel-spa category.
- Banya No.1 Hoxton: Independent Spa Business of the Year.
Banya No.1 confirmed its award in an October announcement thanking its staff and guests. The award applies specifically to the Hoxton business.
The awards span hotel, day, resort and independent spas. Other winners included Golden Door in the North & South America category and Eden Hall in the Western Europe & Scandinavia day-spa category. These are category awards, rather than a single ranking of the world’s spas.
Farris Bad’s competition weekend
Farris Bad’s recognition coincided with its hosting of the Modern Classic Aufguss championship finals, held October 1–4. The competition centers on music, essential oils and towel technique in guided sauna sessions.
Jiří Žákovský won that title, ahead of Emma Chládková and Massimo Gelli. Our Modern Classic Cup results report covers the podium and the 21-person field.
For operators following guided thermal experiences, the awards and competition recognize different work: a spa business on one side and individual sauna masters on the other. SaunaNews’s aufguss operator playbook looks at how those sessions fit into a commercial bathhouse.
