HUUM Redesigns Entire Heater Line with Internal Air Tunnel Technology
The Estonian manufacturer rolls out a significant engineering upgrade across its HIVE and DROP series, cutting heat-up time by 25% and extending element lifespan.
HUUM, the Estonian sauna heater manufacturer known for its sculptural designs and smart connectivity, has announced the HIVE S — the latest evolution of its flagship heater line. The most notable addition: integrated sensors that monitor air quality, particulate levels, and humidity in real time, feeding data to HUUM's mobile app and adjusting heater output automatically.
What's New
The HIVE S retains HUUM's signature rounded stone chamber but introduces a redesigned internal airflow system that the company says improves steam quality and reduces the time to reach optimal temperature by approximately 15%. The integrated sensor array measures PM2.5 particulates, relative humidity, CO2 levels, and temperature at multiple points within the sauna room.
HUUM's app now includes a "Sauna Health Score" that aggregates sensor data into a single quality metric, helping users understand and optimize their sauna environment. The system can also trigger ventilation recommendations and alert users to conditions that might indicate maintenance needs.
We believe the sauna heater should be the intelligence center of the room, not just the heat source.
Market Positioning
The smart heater category has been growing rapidly, but most connected features to date have focused on remote start/stop and temperature scheduling. HUUM's environmental monitoring approach represents a meaningful differentiation in a market where connected features are becoming table stakes.
Pricing for the HIVE S has not been finalized, but HUUM indicated it will carry a 20-25% premium over the current HIVE model, which retails between $890 and $1,400 depending on configuration.
